To unite members for the purpose of pleasure, recreation and exploration by means of camping, touring, training and to generally promote the sport and safety of canoeing.

The Club was formed after Max Kerr successfully applied to ACCESS for a grant of $1,073 to purchase a tralier, six boats, four tents and ten lifejackets.

The first meeting took place in the 4th Ringwood Ease Scout Group Hall on Sunday 9th May 1975. The people present were all involved with the scout group.

The club grew quickly and initial incentives were set. The first for the club, over a period of time, was to paddle the entire length of the Yarra River. The second was to present medallions to members when they attended 25, 50, 75 and 100 monthly club paddles.

In 1976 the club affiliated with the Victorian Amateur Canoe Association.

Club paddles are usually held on the last Sunday of each month. They are generally of such a standard that most clubmembers can safely and enjoyably participate.

A newsletter called KNOOS is issued each month providing members with information about up coming activities of the club and other items of interest. Contributions by members are welcome.

The club owns kayak, canoe and sundry equipment. These are available for use and hire by klub members at club events.

There is only one type of membership:
Family – It covers all members of the family living at the one address.
